Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up (Psalm 71:20, NIV).
No matter what troubles you have experienced in your life, God will yet visit you, restore your life and lift you to a place of great honour. The time for that divine visitation has come. The Lord will surely visit you (Gen. 50:24). The psalmist here acknowledged that he had seen many bitter troubles: “… you have made me see troubles; many and bitter,” he wrote. But he refused to focus on his “many and bitter” troubles.
Rather, he focused on what the Lord was going to do for him. “You will bring me up again; from the depth of the earth.” This is what every child of God should do. Focus on God and what He wants to do in your life, not your many and bitter troubles. There are many and bitter troubles in life. Abraham saw plenty. Likewise Joseph: cast into the pit, sold into slavery, had his character assassinated, was sent to prison unjustly: then God turned it around. The same story goes for David, Samuel, Daniel, Peter, Paul and even Christ our Lord, that the Bible says “many are the afflictions of the righteous” is very real. However, the Lord delivered him out of them all” is the focus (Psalm 34:19).
Jesus said that in the world we shall have tribulations but that we should rejoice because He has overcome the world (John 16:33). Child of God, the Lord is visiting you again, with His mercy and favour. He is lifting you from where you are, positioning you at the very top. In spite of all your troubles, rejoice. Celebrate what God is about to do in your life, and give Him glory. The time of your divine visitation has come.
Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come (Psalm 102:13).
