PRAY AND PROSPER

The shepherds are senseless and do not inquire of the Lord; so they do not prosper and all their flock is scattered (Jeremiah 10:21, NIV).

Our text of today declares that the leaders of Israel at the time of Jeremiah did not prosper because they did not ‘inquire of the LORD.’ Prayerlessness was their bane. James put it this way: “ye have not because ye ask not” (James 4:2b). When people do not really take time to pray, they suffer. In order to avoid the problem of the then shepherds of Israel, make sure you take your time to really pray. If you pray you will propser. This message comes out very clearly through the life of King Uzziah of Judah. The Bible says ‘he sought God in the days of Zechariah…and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper’ (2 Chronicles 26:5). God want you to prosper in all your ways. All that you need to prosper is in His hands, and He is willing to give it to you because He takes pleasure in your prosperity (Psalm 35:27).

However He wants you to ask, so you can receive. He is willing to give you everything it takes for you to prosper. This is what Jesus our Lord says about it. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened… If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? (Matt. 7:7-11).

Take your time to really pray today, and the Lord God of heaven will answer you in amazing ways. Make it a habit of your life to always ‘inquire of the LORD’ and He will make you to prosper. It is well with you.

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things , which thou knowest not (Jeremiah 33:3).
