THE GOOD NEWS OF GREAT JOY

The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. See! I bring you good news of great joy which is for all people. Today, One Who saves from the punishment of sin has been born in the city of David. He is Christ the Lord (Luke 2:10-11 ).

When Jesus Christ was born into the world, the angel announced the event as the good news of great joy. This is the arrival of the seed of the woman that was to bruise the head of the serpent and bring an end to the serpent’s fatal poison in everyone who believes. This is the arrival of the great light that was to shine on the people who sit in darkness, and those who are in the valley of the shadows of death. This is the arrival of the daystar that was to arise in the hearts of men, that they may have in them the hope of eternal glory. This is the arrival of the desire of the nations that shall usher in the coming of God’s Kingdom and make it possible for men and women to become children of God and partakers of God’s nature of light.

This is the arrival of the one who was going to abolish death and bring life and immortality to light for all men. As our scripture today declares, this is the arrival of the only one who God has sent with the power to save us from the punishment of sin. Indeed it is hard core good news, and all who believe it shall truly break forth into great joy. Beloved, have you heard, believed and embraced this good news? If you do, your life can never be the same again. This good news is for sharing. If you have found this treasure of inestimable value, then you are to share it with other people. When this good news is shared, its power to change lives is released. When it is faithfully shared, it does not fail to produce results.

The hardest sinner is transformed; the vilest offender is changed because this good news is the power of God for the salvation of whosoever believes. This season offers a great opportunity for you to share the good news, release its latent power and watch God use you to change lives. May you be a blessing to someone today, through the power of the gospel of Christ.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:16-17).
