GREATNESS THROUGH GREAT MERCY -PT3

GREATNESS THROUGH GREAT MERCY -PT3

Let us look at some people who received mercy through God’s grace. We will look at Apostle Paul. I already spoke on how the mercy of God, great mercy, made David great.

Paul was talking about the goodness of the Lord to him.

“And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.” (1Timothy 1:12-13)

He was evil, he was bad, he was terrible, he was a persecutor, he was injurious but he obtained mercy.

“And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy…  (1Timothy 1:14)

He kept emphasizing on mercy. He was not Apostle Paul because he was good or brilliant or better or more educated than the others or more diligent than the others but he obtained mercy. Yes, he was more diligent than the others, he was better educated than the others, he was more dogged, and he had grit more than the others. He suffered more persecution than the others. But in spite of that, he knew those were not the things that qualified him. What qualified him was that he found mercy.

May you find the mercy of God in every area of your life!

The mercy of God makes all the difference. The mercy of God distinguishes you. The mercy of God puts you at the top when you do not even belong there. David found great mercy, may you find great mercy. Paul found great mercy, may you find great mercy.

In Titus 3, Paul was speaking about the mercy of God over his life. He found mercy, he obtained mercy and mercy distinguished him over and above the rest. That is what happened to him. Mercy happened to him.

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:5-7)

Mercy spoke for him.

“For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy…” (Titus 3:3-5)

It was mercy that put Apostle Paul into the ministry. It was mercy that forgave the sin of Apostle Paul. It was mercy that made him head and shoulder taller than the rest. It was mercy that made him great. It was mercy that enabled him to write more than two thirds of the New Testament scriptures. It was mercy that made him relevant at that time, relevant today and relevant tomorrow.

Cling to the mercy of God. Every other thing may fail, His mercy never fails. Cling to the mercy of God and the mercy of God will see you through whatever situation you find yourself.
