IT IS YOUR DUTY

Jesus replied, Let those who are spiritually dead care for their own dead. Your duty is to go and preach the coming of the kingdom of God (Luke 9:60, NLT).

Many times we allow lesser, unimportant issues to hinder or distract us from our actual duty on earth. Sometime this is due to lack of understanding of what is really important. “My people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge,” the Bible says (Hosea 4:6). To understand our actual duty here on earth, we need to consider the words of our Lord Jesus Christ.

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15). And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us (Luke 19:13-14).

Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father
hath sent me, even so send I you (John 20:21). But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8).

From these words of our Lord Jesus Christ, the duty of every believer is very clear: to preach the gospel of Christ and win souls. It was the only assignment. Jesus Christ gave to His disciples. It is the task that can bring the world back to Christ. It is the only task by which you
will receive eternal reward, and shine forever in the kingdom of your heavenly Father. Daniel got it right when He said “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament: and they that
turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” (Dan. 12:3).

Please be wise. Do not allow the other legitimate affairs of life hinder you from preaching the gospel of Christ. You have only one life, and it will soon be past. Only what is done for Christ will last. May you be a faithful and fruitful witness for our Lord Jesus Christ.

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work (John 9:4).
