Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians (1 Kings 5:6).
Solomon, the wisest king that ever lived, said to Hiram “As you know,
there is no one among us who can cut timber like you Sidonians” (1 Kings 5:6, NLT).
The level of skill of the Sidonians to cut timber was so high; no other group of people could match it. Hence, whenever any woodwork of excellence was to be done, people turned to them from every part of the world, at great prices.
The Sidonians had developed excellence in their skill that the world was ready to pay any price to hire them.
You can be like the Sidonians. You can develop your skill in what you do to such a level that the people will want you at all cost.
Now, what do you do? Teaching? Plumbing? Military or Police service?
Secretarial duties? Editing? Publishing? Nursing? Medical Practice? Law? Missions? Pastoring? Engineering or whatever it may be. Find out how you can develop yourself such that you can be amongst the best in your field. If you do, you will soon discover that excellence is in its own class and people are ready to pay whatever price to enjoy its services.
God wants you to be the head, and not the tail. He wants you to be above only and not beneath. However, this requires a quality decision on your part to get committed to continuous development of your skill and to attain excellence.
Make that decision today. Begin to act on your decision, and you will soon find yourself at the very top, with your services in great demand world over. You will make it to the top. In Jesus’ mighty name.
Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men (Proverbs 22:29).
